The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) undertook their annual audit of HETAS on 7-8 March 2024 and we are pleased to announce that we have passed this year’s audit. We welcomed a brand new assessment team into the office this year and it was great to speak to them, receiving excellent feedback and some recommendations of how we can become even more streamlined. These conversations aid us in our commitment to continuous improvement; as an industry leader, we will always strive to further ourselves and add value to both our registered businesses and the industry.

It was positive to hear that our investments across the businesses – from the our websites to consumer engagement – were well-received and welcomed. We will continue to invest into our future, keeping registrants and consumers informed of any changes and best practices.

UKAS

UKAS oversee and annually audit HETAS and other competent person schemes across the UK, as required by the first condition of authorisation from Competent Person Self-Certification Schemes: “Scheme operator to achieve/maintain UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation to standard BS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2012 (or latest version)”.

UKAS audits independently verify that we comply with standards and specific scheme requirements. The full details can be found in the Minimum competence requirements for work undertaken through competent person schemes and the Conditions of authorisation from the Department of Leveling Up, Housing and Communities. The Conditions of authorisation document contains twenty-one points that scheme operators are assessed against, ensuring the assessment comprehensively determines compliance.

We are required to comply with external rules and regulations to maintain accreditation for the competent person scheme. By following these rules and regulations and undergoing regular audits, we demonstrate our commitment and capability to continue our work as an industry-leading certification body. The audit samples various elements of the business, ensuring we are compliant. Audits are a unique opportunity, granting us impartial feedback on how we can improve our services and continue to lead the industry.

We are always open to feedback and welcome any comments from our stakeholders and registrants. If you ever have any concerns or questions, please get in touch with us at [email protected] so we can provide assistance.
